It"s dead simple and fast. After 3 times you can do this in 5 minutes tops..if not you"re fired!! You have to do this running a Troyke or Advance top cross slide rotary table as they don"t have centering plugs, holes or that nonsense and the tops are square. Most people never use these versatile cross slides or even know they exist and thus are unaware of this method. This is straight from the Advance operators manual and it works.

When we would have a mold that was on the table and then was to be picked up in the morning we always re-indicated to make sure some putz didn"t move the table......now how you going to re-indicate the center hole with your half done part covering it.....simple, see above.

For medium to large parts, the VH-11 rotary table has an 11" (280mm) diameter platter with a 6.75" center height. A 10" or 12" chuck or fixture can easily be bolted to the table using the six precision T-slots. Its large 4" through-hole can be used for bar feeding and special fixture-locating requirements. The spindle and worm have two bearings for front and back support. As always, the worm wheel is helically cut and throated for greater surface contact between the wheel and worm. There is an optional 10" or 12" manual 3-Jaw chuck and adapter plate available as well as a manual or pneumatic tailstock with matching center height.

As Trunnions increase in size, it becomes more difficult for the standard indexer brake to hold them in place. In light of this, we have engineered our very own hydraulic braking system to allow for heavy off center milling and drilling. With up to five times the clamping torque of a standard rotary table, you can be assured that your fixture will maintain rigidity throughout your manufacturing process. The brake resides on the outboard support of our Trunnions and clamps simultaneously with the indexer brake.
