6" base adapter plate is ideal to use on 6" rotary tables of either 3 or 4 slots to mount either 4" , 5" 3-jaw ,6-jaw or 4-jaw self-centering lathe chucks.

Three-jaw ring chucks are mainly used for clamping cylindrical or ring parts at low clamping forces. In contrast to chucks for machining workpieces, the clamping force must be significantly lower in measuring technology, otherwise there is a risk of deformation of the components. By clamping by hand with the clamping ring, the components can be clamped exactly with the clamping force required in each case.

With interchangeable jaws, you can conveniently adapt the ring chuck to your requirements. Special jaws manufactured in-house can also be adapted. The kit version for the DuraMax rotary table is equipped with a mounted adaptation to the rotary table and also includes a reference sphere to qualifiy the rotary table.

Special chucks include manual 4-jaw, 6-jaw, pneumatic / hydraulic, zero-point, etc. We represent System 3R, Schunk, Hirschmann, Erowa, Northfield, etc. designed to hold a part, pallet or fixture and are opened and closed via a pneumatic or hydraulic to open and close the chuck. These chucks are custom ordered to the customers’ requirements. The standard chuck package includes an adapter plate to allow it to be mounted to the rotary table spindle or faceplate, a manifold and rotary joint.

The weight capacity of a rotary table is rated by the mounting position of the rotary table. Most standard 4th axis rotary tables can be mounted in the vertical (centerline of rotation is parallel to the X axis) or in the horizontal position (mounted on its back with the centerline of rotation parallel to machine Z axis). The weight capacity in the vertical position is rated in KG. If you are using a tailstock or support you can double the vertical weight capacity of the rotary table. The basic rule of thumb on the part size is to mount a part that is not larger than the diameter of the faceplate of the rotary table and it does not extend beyond that diameter from the faceplate unless a tailstock and support is being used.

The AC-125 provides up to 12,000 lb (53,379 N) of draw force, with 0.060" (1.5 mm) of travel, allowing part diameter variation of 0.015" (0.38 mm) without readjusting the collet. Its design is similar to the AC-25, but uses two pistons, which more than doubles the available draw force. A large internal spring is used for part release. The AC-125 can be tightened from the rear, and provides a 5/16" (8 mm) through-hole. Its compact size allows it to be used with all models of HA5Cs, and with the use of a small spacer, it can be operated vertically. Clamping force is varied by regulating air pressure supplied to the unit. The AC-125 air collet closer can be used with all types of 5C collets, including step collets. Includes one closer for each head on multi-head units.125 pneumatic collet closer, collets can be clamped and unclamped with the flip of a lever.

There are a bunch of side clamping systems I"ve seen but I can"t put a name to any. Are there any that have decent travel? It definitely would alleviate some of the need to use a chuck on a rotab.

I"ve used one of those cast iron 5C collet holders with the bolt flanges on it bolted to the rotab. Its not that hard to set up for the odd time I do something like that. Thats only good to 1-1/8" of course.

I"d like to make an adapter that bolts to the rotary table and then has a 1.5x8 thread coming out of it to accept my logan chucks. I"m not sure how rigid the setup would be since the mounting flanges on my chucks are small. I guess I could relieve the adapter or make spacer rings to support the chuck on a larger diameter for rigidity. You could probably leave that pupply on there for a while before needing to break it down. I"d probably make a centering spigot like the folks on here have shown. For anything needing better center than that there is always the 4 jaw!

This is exactly what I needed for mounting a chuck or backplate in the tailstock. I needed to bore out something irregular which I could hold in a 4 jaw independent chuck and put in the tailstock. You have to remove the end with an allen key to reveal the entire MT2 taper. That’s intended to be put back to clamp it in place if you’re using this on a table. Works a treat.
