HIWIN TMRTs are backlash-free, optimized for high torques, have robust dynamics and are highly adaptive to the most demanding of automation processes. Compared with the mechanical indexing table, TMRT has high speed and high torque characteristics, suitable for the needs of various machining equipment.

PI’s direct-drive rotary tables with frictionless, brushless, closed-loop torque motors provide the best combination of high accuracy, high velocity, and maximum service life. PI provides closed-loop direct drive rotary tables with both mechanical bearings and air bearings. Stage models with large apertures and low profile are available. The stage design is optimized for high speed, stiffness, and high load capacity. If completely friction-free and maintenance free motion with virtually unlimited lifetime is required, air bearing rotation tables are recommended. These ultra-precision, high-speed rotary tables provide vibration-free motion with extremely high accuracy and negligible runout, wobble and eccentricity errors. In contrast to worm gear driven rotary stages or belt-drive rotation stages, torque-motor direct drive stages eliminate play in gears, couplings or flex in drive belts, providing motion with zero backlash and excellent constancy of velocity, while achieving higher speed than worm-gear drives.
PI’s precision direct-drive, positioning tables can be used in high performance factory automation, research, semiconductor, and laser processing applications. Due to the use of brushless high-torque, motors with direct metrology position feedback, backlash is completely eliminated, and reliability is greatly improved.

Ensure that your servo drive can handle the Nominal- and Peakcurrent of the Motor. An adjustment of the Speed and DC Bus Voltage can be done after consultation. The nominal data in this datasheet are based on an ambient/coolant temperature of 20°C.
Because the exact duty type depends also on the thermal connection of the motor, the embedded thermal monitoring system has to be analysed and attented. However, attention has to be payed that the temperature sensors do not show the exact temperature of the winding and this could be up to 20 K higher due to thermal capacities. Despite an electrical insulation towards the winding, you are only allowed to connect the sensors to your controller by using a galvanic separation in between.

The rotary table comes with clamps and T-nuts for attaching it to the T-slots of a Sherline mill table. In addition, there are two options available for mounting the table in the vertical position or at other angles:
Right-Angle Attachment—This plate holds the table in the vertical position with a center height of 2.7″. A right-angle tailstock is also available to support long stock held on center in the rotary table.
Tilting-Angle Table—This table holds the rotary table and can be fixed at any angle from 0° to 90°. In the 90° position, the rotary table center is also at the 2.7″ height, which allows the right-angle tailstock to be used with it.
After entering the number of steps per revolution (or the number of degrees per step) on a simple numeric keypad, the table advances quickly and precisely to the next position at the touch of a single advance key. If an error is made, previous positions can be accurately recalled by hitting another button. Basic resolution is 28,800 steps per revolution, ±0.006° per step. This allows the accurate machining of items like gears with odd numbers of teeth. Computations are made internally to a high degree of accuracy to avoid cumulative errors.
This is a modification of our 4″ CNC Rotary Table with Stepper Motor. This modification came about after requests from our laser engraving customers. They wanted a rotary table that had a larger through hole to which you could mount our chucks.
This version of the Sherline rotary table has a Nickel-Teflon plating on it because it was designed to be used in an every-day production environment. This gives the table a rust resistant surface that is hard and has added lubrication qualities.
The table is 2″ high and 4″ (100mm) in diameter. The main components have been machined from solid bar stock steel, and the complete unit weighs seven pounds. The table has been engraved with a laser, giving sharp and precise lines every 5°, numbered every 15°. These lines are calibrated with the 72-tooth worm gear that is driven by the handwheel or stepper motor. The handwheel is divided into 50 parts, making each line on the handwheel 1/10°. This allows a circle to be divided into 3600 increments without interpolation. Seventy-two revolutions of the handwheel rotate the table one revolution.
The maximum instantaneous holding torque and maximum continuous holding torque are the values used by Kitagawa QUINTE controller, and the those values differ when using for the 4th axis.
When wishing to shorten the tact time, it is effective to hold only by the motor torque without using the mechanical brake. At that time, the clamp torques shall be the maximum continuous holding torque.
When the mechanical brake is not used, the stop position is not held when the power is turned off or when the servo alarm occurs. The table may rotate at startup and restart.

For challenging tasks of this nature, a mechanical heavy duty table is typically the logical choice. Due to their gearing ratio, however, these tables don’t fare well in service life calculations for use at such high speeds as the needle bearings simply suffer from too much wear.
The correct alternative is a direct drive; which inspired the development of the TO1300. With a direct drive, only one bearing is under load which is virtually free of backlash. The table is low-wear and easily capable of delivering the desired dynamic performance requirements.
