What is Electropolished - This finish results in a smoother, shinier and brighter surface finish as well as enhancing the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel.
The preferred grades of stainless steel for industrial use are titled 304 and 316due to their excellent corrosion resistance, suitable finish, and versatility.
304 Grade Stainless Steel: Is the most commonly produced grade of stainless steel. It is a general-purpose stainless steel and offers good corrosion resistance.
316 Grade Stainless Steel: Also known as "Marine Grade" as it contains Molybdenum to resist the corrosive affects of NaCI or salt in seawater.316 Stainless Steel offers better corrosion than 304 Stainless Steel for those projects in coastal locations. Although it is not completely rustproof the alloy is more corrosion resistant than other common stainless steels.

I"m very happy with the result! Looks really good and was exactly what I was aiming for. Price was definitely a lot cheap than the stuff I saw at Bunnings too.
To pass the wire through the intermediate post I drilled a 7.5mm hole. This is the size drill recommended for screwing the ends into the posts so I just used the same one. Apparently a 7mm hole is all that is required however I found some were a bit tight when threading the wire with fittings through even with the 7.5mm hole.
When screwing those ends into the post it took a lot of battery power from my cordless drill/screwdriver! They"re big screws and going into hardwood. I also had some problems with the merbau posts splitting around the edges of the hole when putting the fittings in. I ended up drilling the first 5mm with a slightly larger drill (can"t remember the size) and using a large (12mm) drill to slightly countersink. I found the trick in doing this too was to put the drill in reverse! As there was already the 7.5mm hole when I tried to countersink the drill bit would grab and pull itself into the post

The Coronavirus pandemic has created a huge demand for sneeze screens. In many offices, shops, bars, and hairdressers a hanging sneeze screen is both an economic and effective solution. We produce our own range of hanging sneeze screens. Moreover, we have assisted countless sign companies, shopfitters, and industrial curtain manufacturers with wires, fittings, and components for hanging perspex screens as well as many other ingenious designs of suspended clear plastic sneeze guards. In this case, we do not supply the plastic panels, we supply the wires and fittings to hang plastic sourced elsewhere.
Materials suspended using our fittings include rigid acrylic and polycarbonate, semi-rigid PET, and flexible screens made from PVC and other types of clear plastic. Our solutions encompass fittings to attach to the ceiling - plasterboard, ceiling grids, magnetic components, and fittings to loop over roof trusses or trunking. At the lower end of the wire, we offer an array of neat fittings, clamps, and hooks each with in-built fingertip height adjustment. In summary, in this section, you will find ways to hang sneeze screens of every type from virtually any ceiling.
Hanging wires or suspension cables, hook fittings or sign panel grippers, ceiling or bulkhead anchor points. The sign hanging hardware can be purchased in sets or as individual wire rope components for mix and match convenience.
Adjustable cables, frame hanging wire or fittings which provide for fine height adjustment are an essential feature of picture hanging systems or any poster hanging kit. Signs must be displayed dead level and poster hanging arrays must be perfectly aligned. An adjustable hook at the bottom of the wire or a cable holder incorporating a clutch mechanism mounted on the ceiling is a vital element of any hanging system.
Our wire hanging display fittings are also used for lighting systems, shopfitting, visual merchandising, art galleries, suspending cable trays, and other mechanical and electrical services.
We were sorry to learn that during the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown period a respected and long-established company in the sign hanging industry ceased trading. Hobday of Birmingham had operated their e-signfittings.co.uk website for many years. We offer many similar sign fittings and we stand ready to assist former e-sign fittings, customers if we are able. We were sad to learn that Hobday Ltd has gone into receivership. (If someone buys a three-sign fittings brand from the receiver they should get in touch with us and we will update this content).
Display fixtures and fittings for suspending signage are available as a convenient sign hanging kits or as individual components. The different sign hanging kits have been carefully assembled to suit differing circumstances: screw-to-ceiling versions, magnet attachment wire fittings, fittings to hang signs from suspended ceilings. These are also referred to as false ceilings or grid ceilings, and we have the hardware to attach easily and reliably to standard ceiling grids.
There are several ways to hang posters - the choice will depend on the size and weight of the poster and the type of ceiling. For smaller lightweight posters POS-type fittings are a perfect low-cost answer. The range of POS hanging systems includes adhesive ceiling buttons and double-ended hooks which latch onto our poster bars. Wire POS hooks can also be supplied in a style that is easily stretched to the required length (Jet Set wires).
Sign supplies for suspending signs include wire rope or cables; wipe rope accessories such as wire rope hooks and various ceiling fittings. These can be anchors which screw to the ceiling, magnetic wire end fixings and suspended ceiling fixings.
Unless the hanging signs are really heavy 1.2mm cable with 7x7 construction or a 1.5mm wire display system is perfectly adequate. Each cable and the associated wire fittings will support a weight of 10kg with a considerable margin of safety. These wires look inconspicuous but they are capable of taking a significant load. Galvanised steel wire is generally supplied but the components can equally be used with stainless steel cables. Wire end fixing points are reliably engineered.

Maybe it is hard to find the large eye swages because riggers do not recommend them. For 7x19 standing rigging, the eye needs to be huge if you use normal swages. Most riggers these days use the special end fittings secured in a press, something like Sta-lock terminals. http://www.stalok.com/c-79-swage-terminals.aspx
Maybe there aren"t as many boat requiring rigging greater than 5mm? The wire came from the local industrial rigging shop for guys and catenary or lifting gear. They don"t sell the swages - not that I see, but I"ve found another supplier.
Try Bunnings or Masters, they sell swages for people that are using wire to support shade sails, not sure of size availabilty, funny they sell swages but they dont sell swaging tools, go figure
Its worth cutting a few test swages to see how the swage forms on the cable and check the cable strands are properly compressed together in the swage.
Oh yes they do. Ozzie in the Tool Time thread put me on to Bunnings where they sell these two Kincrome swagers the larger of which, does from 1mm to 5mm and cost only $79 compared to the $180 to $220ish the chandlers sell them for. I bought one last week. Just have to modify it to do 6mm instead of 5, as Ozzie described. I had forgotten that Bunnings sells shiny swages - I did see them a few weeks ago.
This does bring up the other issue, fair enough, that it will impact on insurance issues. I may be somewhat exempt here as I recall the rig being separately priced at less than a grand as part of the overall package (so much for boat, so much for engine, so much for personal contents, etc). Bulldog clips/wire grips are just as strong, but they don"t get recommended. So there are reasons for swages too. But they get used in the crane industry, and I don"t see an issue with the marine environment. So it"ll impact on insurance, but being uncommon is not the same as being recommended to avoid. The ones that I"m looking at at 6mm and 8mm too, and greater, are sold by a marine supplier. Oops just read there
"Suitable for hand or hydraulic swaging. Extruded copper for use with stainless steel wire. Nickel plated to aesthetically blend with stainless steel wire. Not suitable for galvanised wire."
One or 2 weeks back I went there specifically for a swager and they were out of stock in that area. Last Friday or so I saw them (the larger one) in front of the drill bits or socket section. Tool section, not the racks & aisles toward the back (the smaller ones were there), but on the sidewalls toward the front. One wall has drill bits, chuck keys, jigsaw blades, etc. The other wall has socket sets, screwdrivers, etc. Some stores seem to have these things a mirror image of the other Bunnings stores, but in my local store it was on the right. Ground level, held up on the racking post. Almost an impulse buy.
When I was a rigger we used aluminium ferrules with galvanised wire rope, and nickel plated copper with stainless. I forget why we used aluminium with gal but it was important. I"d say the copper would cause trouble with the gal wire.

maybe for the numbers after the pound symbol, compared to the $2 quoted above, plus $1 eye and the swage tool I have now. Oh and compatibility with galvanised wire. This is the line from the Sta Lock fork, 1/4 " : 134-06 1/4 1 3/16 7/8 5/8 7/16 7/16
