The SM50 water pump is fitted with dripless flat-faced HTMA quick couplers for easy connecting and disconnecting of the pump and hydraulic system. The water outlet is a 3-inch pipe thread fitted with a 3-inch groove fitting to which can be connected a cam hose end fitting. Access to the pumping chamber for cleaning requires the removal of only two cap screws. The motor with the impeller attached is then easily removed from the pump casing. The SM50 can draw down water to a depth of 3.5 inches. Putting the SM50 in a sump will allow it to pump all but 3.5 inches of water remaining in the sump. The integral screen effectively keeps solids larger than 3/8 of an inch out of the pump. The pump will handle clear water and water containing up to 10% solids.

Urethane bowls are very lightweight and can do a good job with clean, clear water. It is not recommended for water that has a lot of abrasives in it as these will eventually deteriorate the tolerances between the impeller and volute causing a reduction in performance. They are not as long lasting if used for pumps with potential solids, like trash or sewer pumps.
Iron has been used for pumps for well over 100 years. It is tough and unlikely to distort under different temperature and pressure conditions. It is also very abrasion and impact resistant and is ideal for sandy environments.
Similar to the volute, there are different materials employed for the impeller. In a centrifugal pump (which all these are) the impeller is the part of the pump that spins around inside the pump body, flinging the liquid from the center, outward towards the discharge port. It is important to select the right impeller material for the type of job at hand.
Urethaneimpellers are very good for the same types of conditions as urethane bowls: cool, clean, clear water. The water should be less than 100 degrees or so to avoid distoring the shape of the impeller. It is not recommended for pumping solds as these can cause the plastic to crack or break.
Stainless Steelis the ideal choice for salt water or other corrosive liquids. It is very stable under different temperatures and pressures, and will usually be unaffected by pumping smaller solids.
Some manufacturers claim to get much higher flow rates and head pressures from the same hydraulic oil input flow rates and pressures as other manufacturers. The equations are complex, but the idea is simple. It takes a certain amount of energy to move a volume of water to a particular height; it just does. The power going in to the pump has to be somewhat higher than that to compensate for friction loss, heat, and so on. There may be some efficiency improvements gained by impeller or volute design, but these are not normally as significant as some manufacturers claim. Beware of numbers that are too good to be true!
The SM20 will out-pump most all gasoline engine driven pumps. There is no recoil starting, priming or suction hose as with gas engine driven pumps. It can be run dry without damage. Submersed into the water and with its easy hookup to a power unit, the SM20 is instantly pumping. The abrasion resistant cast iron inlet wear ring is easily replaced from the inlet sit of the pump. With only a few moving parts, the SM20 is virtually maintenance free.
These submersible pumps are powered by the hydraulic circuits of a utility truck. They can also be run with a portable power unit or any other hydraulic source as long as the pressure and flow are within the correct range. A great feature is that they are self priming and can also be run dry without damage.

Features and Benefi ts The 12 vdc Water Pump is a threechamber positive displacement diaphragm pump. This pump will deliver water fl ow to a pressure of 45 psi. Maximum output fl ow is 3.3 gpm. At 40 psi, this pump will deliver about 2.2 gpm. The Water Pump has a built-in pressure switch which will automatically shut off the pump when pressure reaches 45 psi. The switch will turn on the pump when pressure drops to 30 psi. The settings of the pressure switch are preset and cannot be adjusted. The Water Pump is self-priming. It will draw water up to a maximum lift of 8 feet. The diaphragm construction allows the pump to run dry without damage. There are no rotating seals to wear or leak. The built-in thermal protection will automatically shut off the pump before it is damaged by overheating. The shut off will automatically reset after the pump cools. The pump has a fi nned heat sink for cooling. This makes the pump a continuous-duty pump. The built-in check valve maintains water pressure after the pump shuts off. It also prevents water from fl owing back into the water supply. If your water supply is from a potable water source, water in the pump outlet will not fl ow back into the water system. A strainer is provided in the suction line to prevent debris from entering the pump. The strainer is easily disassembled for cleaning. The clear cover allows you to see the condition of the strainer.
