These J55, L80, N80Q & P110 pup joints are manufactured from seamless Grade J-55, L80 N80Q and P110 mechanical tubing. The API 5CT tubing pup joint is mainly used to adjust the height of the tubing strings. It is also used to adjust the depth of down-hole tools.

In order to honor this commitment we have developed a quality assurance manual that describes our quality management system and how it conforms to the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (API) Spec Q1. The API Specification Q1 outlines the requirements for the consistent and reliable production of parts manufactured in accordance with API specifications. An API license and authorization to monogram is issued only after a quality assurance manual has been submitted and approved and an onsite audit by an API representative has confirmed that the applicant adheres to the requirements of both Q1 and the appropriate API product specifications. Specification Q1 is consistent with the requirements of ISO 9000. While it is necessary to have a valid API license certificate to apply the API monogram, a manufacturer can produce products which meet API requirements without the license and mark the product only with the specification designation, for example �5CT� for casing or tubing. However many users require the use of the API monogram to insure that API is auditing the manufacturer on a regular basis.

The American Petroleum Institute has granted Tejas Tubular de Mexico the right to use the Official API Monogram� on manufactured products under the conditions in the official publications of the America Petroleum Institute entitled API Q1� and API Spec 5CT, API Spec 5L, API Spec 5DP and API Spec 7-1.

Besides casing and tubing, it also includes pup joints, coupling stock, coupling material, and accessory materials, and establishes requirements for three product specification levels (PSL-1, PSL-2, and PSL-3). The requirements for PSL-1 are the basis of this standard.

API Spec.5CT includes an illustration of API tubing joint connections. All three connections have tapered and round thread forms with either 8 or 10 threads/in., depending on the size. When casing is used as tubing, long-thread coupling/short-thread coupling and buttress-thread coupling connections can be specified.

Heat treatment methods for API 5CT casing and tubing is an important factor to differ each grade. Products requiring heat treatment shall be subjected to full body and full length heat treatment. The heat-treated upsetting product should be heat treated full body, full length after upsetting.

Product threading, gauging practice and thread inspection shall be in accordance with API Spec 5B. The product end shall not be hammered, but may be slightly shaped to meet the requirements of thread machining. For steel grades of C90 and higher strength, such forming shall only be carried out with the consent of the purchaser.
