The Canadian International Trade Tribunal launched an investigation Tuesday into the dumping and subsidizing of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) pup joints originating in or exported from the People"s Republic of China.

The products covered by the investigation include OCTG pup joints made of carbon or alloy steel, welded or seamless, heat-treated or not heat-treated, regardless of end finish, having an outside diameter from two-and-three-eighths inches to four-and-a-half inches (60.3 mm to 114.3 mm), in all grades, in lengths from two feet to 12 feet (61 cm to 366 cm).

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has today initiated re-investigations to update the normal values and export prices, in accordance with the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), respecting certain oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and certain seamless casing originating in or exported from China.

During the re-investigations, the CBSA will once again examine the OCTG sector in China as, based on currently available information, there is continued reason to believe that the conditions of section 20 remain.
