Palmgren’s rotary cross slide tables have precise rotary, lateral and transverse feeds for rapid positioning of the workpiece. Bolted to a machine these tables increase your ability to mill, route, shape, cut slots and keyways, as well as grind. Intricate jobs become easy on metal, plastic, composites or wood.

Palmgren"s rotary tables perform a variety of operations. They are very useful for cutting segments or circles, circular slots, cutting irregular-shaped slots as well as other similar operations. There tables permit accurate positioning or work under the machine spindle or for inspection and layout applications.

Palmgren rotary tables accurately position work on the X and Y axes, as well as 360 degree base rotation. With these versatile tables, it is possible to do hundreds of jobs that were never before possible using a standard machine. The table may be used to position or to actively feed under the machine spindle. Tops are ground to 0.001 inch total indicator reading. heavy handles permit smooth movement and do not extend below the base, eliminating interference with the machine table. Cross slide travel is 4 inches.

Palmgren tables can be used in either the horizontal or vertical position. Smooth worm gear drive provides positive rotary feed. The dial collar on the index shaft is graduated in 3 minute increments.

One of the last to leave was Mr. Charles A. Palmgren, Assistant Foreman of the Mechanical Department, who resigned to accept the position of Manager of the Steel Art Tool Company, March 1st., with offices in Chicago.

Mr. Palmgren started in at "South" in January 1900, as a Tool Maker in the Mechanical Department, with one assistant, and by an inborn genius for mechanics, built up an Experimental Department second to none in the country, and at the time of leaving had between sixty and seventy men under him.

Several years ago Mr. Palmgren invented and perfected an electric clock, which automatically blew the plant whistle at stated times, and this installation is still in service here. He also built up and perfected the time-clock system in vogue at South Works, and has many other valuable inventions covering Safety Lathe Tools, Automatic Drill Chucks, Air Hammers, Improvements to other tools, etc. to his credit.

For those more demanding circular cutting and positioning operations, Palmgren’s heavy duty series of rotary indexing tables are the right choice. These tables permit rapid positioning of work under the machine spindle or for inspection and layout applications.
