The DELTA Rotax series Compact Plus NC Control is a high precision fully automatic rotary table horizontal spindle NC grinding machine with hydrostatic ways on all axes. It is suitable for both mass production and one-off single piece precision surface grinding applications.

In particular, in addition to that described for the DIASTEP unit, it allows more workpieces to be stored in the memory, as well as linear and interpolated wheel dressing on the table to use wheels with parametric profiles, multi-surface machining, and shoulder grinding on the Y-axis.

The decades of experience in flat surface grinding has allowed us to create a user-friendly, yet powerful and complete operator-machine interface. We provide a large number of options, such as table wheel dressing with one or more diamonds or with a diamond dressing disc; integrated CAD-CAM to generate and dynamically simulate profiles whilst optimising the movement of the tool both for the grinding wheel and for the machining surface.

Most other rotary table surface grinder manufacturers use conventional thrust roller bearings for their rotary table slide. Thrust roller bearings deliver inferior precision, as well as shorter service life due to their low resistance against wear and tear from prolonged use. As a result, grinders that use thrust roller bearings also require frequent repairs and replacements of the bearings.

As a superior alternative, our table slides use metal rings that are processed with our scraping techniques and fabricated with grooves for the lubricant oil. This technique delivers table surface rigidity against vibration to nearly 0 mm with sustained performance for an extended period, which reduces the need for regular maintenance.

Scraping technique is also applied to our box way of x-axis transfer slide to achieve superior parallelism and flatness of table surface. This differs from the LM-guide way for the x-axis that is widely used by other manufacturers. LM-guide ways have a transfer precision of roughly 0.005mm to 0.01mm on the grinder’s wheels and table and are unable to deliver high precision level. Moreover, the LM-guide requires frequent maintenance to adjust for the LM-guide’s loosened balls. By using our scraping techniques, LPR Global’s box way overcomes these shortcoming to deliver a <3㎛transfer precision of table and wheel and maintain high precision levels for an extended service life.

I"m tasked with specifying a surface grinder and my lifetime total operating surface and rotary (between centers) grinders is only 60-80 hours. I"ve always used whatever grinder my employer had, which was almost always older than me, and did just fine. Not splitting tenths, but holding them with some effort.

My problem is that while I can tell you the difference between knee mills, I can"t tell you the difference between grinders. I"m looking specifically at grinders with a power x,y,downfeed and coolant simply because past experience tells me those things make it a lot easier for a less experienced operator to get good parts off.
