kelso safety valve pricelist
The development of Kelso"s vacuum relief valve was driven by customer demand for better performance due to high failure rates of older models of VRVs. The Kelso VRV features constant force pressure springs and meets DOT-117 tank car specifications. Kelso"s VRV is available as 1.5, 3 or 4.5 psi with a 2.5 inch threaded connection or flange.
Kelso"s pressure relief valve raises the bar on best available technology from railway equipment suppliers. Our external PRV design for general purpose tank cars improves reliability and performance over the older internal models that allowed active components to come in contact with the commodities being transported. In addition, the maintenance requirements for the Kelso PRV are less frequent due to elimination of contact with the goods inside the car, and the inspection process each time the tank car is loaded is far less time-consuming due to the Kelso PRVs location outside the car. With thousands of units in service the Kelso external PRV has demonstrated reliable operations in many tough service conditions without need of maintenance or unscheduled repair.
VANCOUVER —Kelso says that all of the participating oil refiners engaged in the service trials of the company’s new 2” angle valve have installed the requisite number of K2AV units.
Kelso’s K2AV is designed to transfer LP-Gas and anhydrous ammonia in pressurized railroad tank car applications. The company also announced that Hull AAR compliance testing continues.
Kelso says management expects to generate multi-million dollar revenues from the K2AV as oil refiners specify the company’s products in larger numbers.
The Kelso K2AV is a single piece of fabricated steel. It is designed for universal use and has a self-draining, self-cleaning seat; it has a low operating torque for ease of use; it has an adjustable packing gland; and it is a serviceable valve. The K2AV has an AAR standard mounting that will allow for ease of interchangeability with other 2” angle valves. The K2AV is manufactured only in the USA.
The K2AV rounds out the Kelso Pressure Car Kit which includes the pressure relief valve, an excess flow check valve, a thermometer well, a needle valve and magnetic gauging device.
“The response to Kelso’s K2AV from potential customers who were involved in the final design specifications has been very encouraging. Kelso is prepared for full K2AV production and distribution when the final AAR approvals are received,” said James R. Bond, CEO at Kelso in a statement.
Let’s keep it simple: these tumblers don’t leak. The silicone sipper spout design has a built-in valve that stops water from flowing when no one is drinking: it’s easy for children to quench their thirst, but won’t make a mess if the tumbler is tipped over. It’s the perfect choice for active kids, or young ones just graduating from sippy cups who aren’t ready for an open-topped tumbler yet. Two tumblers and a bonus sipper are included in the set—the 12-ounce stainless steel tumbler has vacuum insulation, which keeps drinks cold and eliminates water rings from condensation, and the 15-ounce plastic tumbler is lightweight and easy to carry. They’re both durable, reusable, and completely BPA free, and you can even disassemble the lids and spouts for cleaning (these pieces are top-rack dishwasher safe). The plastic tumbler is dishwasher safe as well, though the stainless tumbler should be hand washed to preserve the vacuum seal, and we recommend hand washing both to keep the artwork bold and bright. Don’t put them in the microwave—these tumblers are made for cold drinks and help your kid stay refreshed and hydrated with no leaks or spills!

The antimicrobial drinking spout helps prevent the spread of bacteria, so you don’t have to worry when you take this travel cup on the go, and the 15-ounce plastic tumbler is lightweight and sturdy enough for everyday adventures. The materials are completely BPA free and shouldn’t be microwaved—this cup is made for cold drinks. And at the end of the day, you can just disassemble the lid and spout and put everything in the top rack of the dishwasher for a quick and easy clean.
Relief and safety Valves are used in high pressure systems to control the pressure and keep balance of the system. The different between safety valves and relief valves is that the safety valves fully open or close under a certain pressure while the relief valves can open in proportion to the pressure in front of them. The safety and pressure relief valves are used automatically. They both operate under similar conditions. When the pressure builds up in a system, it has to be managed by releasing the material to flow through. These valves have a threshold pressure at which they open. The consolidated safety and safety relief valves comprise of a bonnet vent and bellow with springs.
The springs are set up for the threshold pressure and when the pressure exceeds the threshold, the spring is pushed into the bonnet vent and the bellow opens the valve. The Safety Relief Valves can be open and shut valves. They either open or shut off at any given pressure. This is mostly for the safety of an application not to explode under high pressure. The Pressure Relief Valve on the other hand releases the material after the threshold pressure, but not fully. If the pressure is slightly higher the threshold, then the valve opens slightly. If the pressure is very high above the threshold, it opens wider. It also functions in the same manner when the pressure drops down. The valve closes in proportion to the pressure. The safety valve shuts down at once only when the pressure is below the threshold.

Relief Valves are designed to control pressure in a system While Safety Valves are used for controlling the pressure in a system they release pressure immediately in the event of an emergency or system failure
The Setpoint of relief valve is usually set at 10 Percent above working pressure limit while safety valve is usually set at 3% above working pressure limit.
If you are operating systems that can only be off for short periods of time, it is sensible to keep a spare valve to swap over and then the removed valve can be inspected and recertified.
