It"s a place that sells rope. And rigging. By the looks of things, most of their business is of the industrial/large scale/massive project variety, where I"m sure they deliver tons and tons of cable and rigging. And they probably do a good job of it.
I was recently tasked with picking up some rope for the scouts, and this was the location. They do sell to the public, so if you"re looking for rope and rigging, here"s your rope and rigging heaven. I just like saying rope and rigging. Rope and rigging. See how it rolls off the tongue? I"ve become distracted...
So that"s the story. Honestly, it"s just fine. What do you expect? They sell rope and rigging all day long. Rope and rigging. Try it... say it out loud... rope and rigging.

We’ve changed our name from Denver Wire Rope to Mazzella. Aside from the new name and logo, our member experience is virtually unchanged. Here are some common questions and answers related to this change.
In 2019, Denver Wire Rope & Supply was acquired by Mazzella Companies to expand lifting and rigging products and services to the western half of the United States.
In 1954, James Mazzella founded Mazzella Wire Rope & Sling Co. in Cleveland, OH. For over 65 years, the company has grown organically by nurturing historic relationships, expanding its product offerings, and entering new markets through acquisition.
You can use a chain rigging sling to handle difficult-to-position loads. Our wire rope slings are a great choice for an industrial setting where your load is too hot or abrasive for a synthetic sling. These wire rope slings will hold up well, even under the heaviest use in lifting and rigging applications.
The Forest Service has been involved in ropeway engineering since the early days when recreational skiing on National Forest System lands took-off and safety standards were first being developed in the 1950’s and 60’s. In fact, a Forest Service engineer by the name of Charles F. Dwyer, PE was instrumental in developing the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B77 standard for ropeway safety first published in 1960. Chuck was an internationally known and respected ropeway engineer, was an early representative on the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board, and founded the North American Continental Section of the International Organization for Transport by Rope (OITAF-NACS) and a founding contributor of the Information Center for Ropeway Studies at the Arthur Lakes Library on the Colorado School of Mines Campus –the only publically accessible ropeway library in the world. Chuck died just this past January at the age of 98.
In 2012, a team concept for Forest Service ropeway engineers was created and is known as the National Ropeway Service Team (NRST). NRST’s mission is to provide consistent and quality technical expertise and support to the Agency and Authorized Officers to ensure that:
Permitted ropeway and aerial adventure course facilities, operating on National Forest System (NFS) lands, meet applicable safety codes, standards and technical requirements for planning, location, design, construction, operation, and maintenance; and
Ropeway, aerial adventure course, and natural resource-based recreation facility safety monitoring at approximately 125 permitted ski areas and organizational camps;
Over 1,100 ropeway (tramways, ski lifts, surface lifts, tows, conveyors, etc.) facilities located on 64 National Forests in 8 Regions, and providing over 250 million passenger trips per year;
Summer use facilities which include: zip lines, canopy tours and ropes courses, via ferratas, climbing walls, mountain coasters and other permitted facilities.
The NRST consists of five full-time licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) who assist and coordinate with Recreation and Permit Administration and provide ropeway engineering technical support and trainings. NRST members are located and have Ropeway Engineering program responsibilities as follows:
Region 2 Office in Lakewood, CO w/ Primary Responsibilities in R2, R3, and R9 (Rocky Mountain, Southwestern, and Eastern Regions); Kevin P. Forrest, PE & John W. Kamb, PE
Region 4 Office in Ogden, UT w/ Primary Responsibilities in R1, R4, and R5 (Northern, Intermountain, and Pacific Southwest Regions); Curt W. Panter, PE & Seth P. Wallace, PE
NRST members play a critical role in the ropeway industry to help develop and improve technical safety standards, share information on issues and incidents, and otherwise collaborate in areas of mutual benefit. NRST involvement on a state, national and international level is essential for the Forest Service to stay current with industry safety practices and standards since public health and safety are our Agencies’ primary concerns and goals.
Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) B77 on Aerial Passenger Ropeways: The Forest Service has been instrumental in the development of the American National Standard for Passenger Ropeways (ANSI B77.1) since it was first published in 1960, and is the largest single AHJ adopting the standard today. B77.1 is referenced in SUPs and FSM 7320 as the technical standard permittees are required to follow. The NRST has two voting members.
ITTAB-International Meeting of Technical Authorities for Cableways: ITTAB is an international, confidentially, non-public, non-commercial meeting of technical supervisory authorities and bodies in charge of ensuring the safety of ropeways. Its objective is to exchange experiences and information on the application of regulations and standards in the ropeway sector. ITTAB holds annual meetings of delegates from approximately 23 countries with supervisory authority in charge of ensuring the safety of ropeways. The Forest Service has represented the United States since ITTAB’s inception and has been granted four delegation seats representing the United States as a Supervisory Authority.
International Organization for Transportation by Rope (OITAF) & North American Continent Section (OITAF-NACS): OITAF was established in 1959 and has a membership group which includes operators, manufacturers, and authorities. OITAF’s mandate and goal is to promote development and improvement of the ropeway industry through studies, experiments, and standardization of national and international safety requirements and norms. The Forest Service plays an integral role in OITAF and OITAF-NACS by holding the only Class-A membership which is only granted to our agency as the largest AHJ with ropeways operating on Forest Service Lands in the United States.
State Tramway / Ropeway Boards & Authorities: There are currently seven states with tramway/ropeway or safety divisions. These are California, Colorado, New Hampshire, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Michigan. The NRST is actively involved with most of these state authorities for rules development, safety processes improvement, and accident investigations. The Forest Service and the states of California, Utah, Washington, Colorado and New Hampshire have entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to better coordinate and clarify oversight of the skiing industry. NRST currently has members on two State Boards.
