Our advanced Digital Rope Counter has been designed to assist with work carried out in the field. It’s incredibly useful when long cables need to be laid (eg. fibre optic cables, electrical lines, plumbing and more).

Both those measurements allow the Digital Rope Counter to provide estimated time that’s needed to pull the required amount of cable/rope over the required distance.

Accurately measures 1/2" to 2" (12 to 50 mm) diameter materials. Extend capacity to 1/8" to 2" (3 to 50 mm) with optional, self-storing Small Wire Fairlead, #1783K. All parts subject to wear by material"s passage are hardened steel. Rugged industrial counter adds or subtracts; resets to ZERO with one turn of a knob. Model 1700 handles a wide variety of materials including wire, cable, wire rope, and hose. Measurer is 8" wide at the counter, 18" long and 13" high. The mounting spindle is included. Specify Counter Requirement: FEET Counter indicates to 9.999"-11" METERS Counter indicates to 999.9M. Also, specify Counter configuration: PAYOUT-Counter is read with operator looking back at the payout reel. TAKEUP-Counter is read with operator looking forward to the take-up reel (as illustrated above).

The greatest difference can be seen in the length of the measured rope when comparing it at a tensioned and untensioned state. Tests have shown an approximate 2% difference in length is found with 12-strand AmSteel®-Blue when tension is used during

measurement compared to an untensioned rope. Greater variability was seen with untensioned measurements, with as much as 2% of the same rope’s length but when tensioned that difference dropped to 0.5%. The amount of variation seen between tensioned

and untensioned ropes will also be affected by the material and construction of each rope.Necessary Rope Measuring Procedures:Supply constant, even tension (no more than 10 lb is needed) to all diameter ropes.

When no tensioning device is available, laying the rope to the complete required length on a flat surface, and tensioning it with hand force while measuring the full length will reduce the variability and difference in length.
