The 2,200-hp mud pump for offshore applications is a single-acting reciprocating triplex mud pump designed for high fluid flow rates, even at low operating speeds, and with a long stroke design. These features reduce the number of load reversals in critical components and increase the life of fluid end parts.
The pump’s critical components are strategically placed to make maintenance and inspection far easier and safer. The two-piece, quick-release piston rod lets you remove the piston without disturbing the liner, minimizing downtime when you’re replacing fluid parts.
All cars need to be serviced regularly. But car maintenance costs are always going up. After all, garages and workshops are businesses and have to .....
ACE supplied motors along with the complete electrical installation, LED rig light package and controls for a mechanical tele-double rig. The controls consisted of Cummins generator sync panels, VFD packages for the mud pump rad fans, ABB soft-starts for 2 x 400HP top drive HPU pumps.
ACE supplied motors along with the complete electrical installation, LED rig light package and controls for a mechanical tele-double walking rig. The controls consisted of Cummins generator sync panels, VFD packages for the mud pump rad fans, ABB soft-starts for 2 x 400HP top drive HPU pumps. We added electrical controls at the drillers console for the mud pumps and an Omron touch screen to monitor various rig parameters. Additional considerations were required to extend control signals through a cable curtain, which could extend the cables up to 300 feet. ACE also included a wireless remote to control the PLC synchronized walking feature of the rig, and automatic VFD pump controls to regulate tank levels on a scalping tank.
The rangeland SRR-150 is a push pull well service rig, specifically designed for pad style well service. The rig uses a 600HP diesel over hydraulic system to drive most rig functions; they are controlled by an Omron PLC system and multiple Omron touch screens. The rig incorporates a fully automated pipe handling system from the ground to derrick.
This machine will slot pipe to desired widths, lengths and density and place them exactly on tubular’s both radially and axially. This system uses a combination of an Omron PLC and touch screen, as well as hydraulic servo actuators and electric servo motors to obtain the required precise cutting depth and pipe indexing. The machine is capable of slotting pipe lengths up to 46 feet at one time while maintaining extremely tight tolerances on the ID and OD of the finished slots. Common applications for the straight cut slotted pipe are for Cold Production and CBM horizontal wells in addition to SAGD injector wells.
ACE retrofitted an existing SCR rig, removing the original 5×20-conductor cables from the SCR house to the rig floor. We added Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC’s at the drillers console and SCR house with a communication cable to replace the original 5×20-conductor cables. The system is setup with a back-up 20 conductor cable to run the drawworks and a mud pump in case the PLC network went down.
ACE custom built cabinetry to house a 4 x ACS800-04M ABB drive system. The cabinetry consists of 7 sections, plugboard, breaker section, control section, and 4 individual inverter sections. The design had to work around certain height restrictions and additional cooling and ventilation considerations.
ACE specified and supplied a braking resistor and chopper solution for an existing rig. The original equipment was prone to failure and a more reliable solution was required. We worked around multiple issues including the logistics of a field installation, space restrictions for the larger braking resistor and integrating the system with a 3rd party control system.
ACE designed a sophisticated control system that allows for 5 separate centrifuge configurations and is user configurable to run 2 centrifuges simultaneously. This means that 5 separate centrifuge/motor configurations can be saved in the system and centrifuges can be interchanged without any hardware changes. The controls consist of a Siemens touch screen and S7 PLC, all the controls for the centrifuges and flocculation tank are via the touch screen.
A well-placed suction stabilizer can also prevent pump chatter. Pump chatter occurs when energy is exchanged between the quick opening and closing of the reciprocating pump’s valves and the hammer effect from the centrifugal pump. Pump isolation with suction stabilizers is achieved when the charge pumps are isolated from reciprocating pumps and vice versa. The results are a smooth flow of pumped media devoid of agitating energies present in the pumped fluid.
Suction stabilizer units can mitigate most of the challenges related to pulsations or pressure surges, even in the most complex piping conditions. The resulting benefits prevent expensive unplanned downtime and decrease costs and inconvenience associated with system replacements and repairs.
