Standard build includes TEFC motor. “Explosion proof” motors are also available. This belt driven unit is easily adjusted and permanently aligned. The triplex piston type pump is simple, rugged and reliable. 50 Hz or 60 Hz motors are available at any common three-phase voltage input. A preset, adjustable pressure relief valve is standard equipment.
Rating is 25 US gpm (95 L) with disc type valves or 20 US gpm (76 L) with ball valves. Disc valves are intended for use with clean fluids and ball valves are suited to drilling mud solutions. The pumps are available with optional materials of construction to suit special applications.
Centrifugal mud pumps are rotodynamic pumps utilizing a rotating impeller that creates flow by energizing a fluid (mud). Centrifugal pumps are commonly used to agitate liquids allowing them to flow through pipes. The fluid (mud) enters the centrifugal pump impeller near the rotating axis and is then accelerated by the impeller. From there, the fluid (mud) flows radially outward into a diffuser or casing chamber and then exits into downstream piping.

Intrinsically safe, due to their non-electric air/gas driven design, these pumps use corrosion resistant materials for use in difficult and hazardous areas, such as offshore oil/gas platforms. McFarland-Tritan, LLC offers air operated/gas driven pumps in sizes ranging from the single head plunger pump, Mac-24, for intermediate high pressure testing and injection, to larger versions at higher pressures and dual stage pumps, Mac-14 and Mac-28 Two-Stage. EDDY Pumps operate with an open volute where the spinning of the rotor creates an eddy current effect that pulls in and pushes out the slurry. The rotor is recessed in the housing and thus, minimal wear is incurred over the life of the pump. Liquid pressurized double mechanical seals allow the pump to be run dry without damage.
Fluids are not sheared through this pump and fragile flocculated solids are maintained in some polymer applications. Mud rheology is not changed through the pump but actually maintained. The gentle mixing of the eddy current ensures chemicals are sufficiently blended in the fluid.
A 5-year study comparing the maintenance of the EDDY Pump with the records from centrifugal pumps prove that the Eddy Pump is the most economical pump on the market.
