goodwin mud pump manufacturer
The Goodwin range of submersible pumps has a world-class reputation for reliability. Goodwin pumps were developed for the mining industry where tough conditions are normal. Introduced in 1982, thousands of Goodwin pumps are in operation around the world, solving pumping problems in many industries.
Goodwin pumps are designed and developed in the UK by parent company Goodwin International Limited. Goodwin is a long established British engineering company specialising in casting and machining parts for petrochemical, nuclear, defence, power generation and aerospace industries.
Goodwin pumps were manufactured in the UK for many years. However, with many new mining and industrial markets in the southern hemisphere, Goodwin moved manufacturing to a purpose built pump factory in India in 2005. All R&D remains in the UK.
Our continually evolving range of submersible pumps are manufactured for both traditional applications and tailored pumping solutions including turnkey systems for special projects.
Manufactured since 1982, Goodwin pumps have been continually developed to create the world’s most dependable submersible pumps. Goodwin pumps can have electric or hydraulic motors to suit a multitude of tasks. The range of heavy duty slurry pumps us complemented by specialist acid resisting and high head dirty water submersible pumps.
The Goodwin Submersible Slurry Pump was developed for the UK mining industry and has since grown into a range of products that deliver proven performance in the most demanding environments.
Product development is performed in the UK, however all pump production manufacturing is done at our high quality, low cost manufacturing operation Goodwin India Pvt Ltd, located in Chennai, India, which was started in 2005.
Within the purpose built 70,000 sq feet factory area, submersible pumps are machined and assembled at our Indian facility, utilising the latest equipment to ensure we manufacture extremely reliable, high quality pumps.
From the initial start-up in India in 2005, there were three variants of a 30Kw 100mm pump designed and manufactured. Now that the range has been properly developed, there are five variants of 100mm, 150mm and 200mm submersible slurry pumps, two variants of ultra-reliable multistage submersible dirty water high head pumps for mine dewatering, as well as acid resistant super duplex stainless steel pumps for chemical ponds and acid leaching applications.
Goodwin submersible pumps are electrically-driven, abrasion resistant submersible pumps that are capable of pumping dense slurries containing abrasive solids within a wide range of industries.
Due to the arduous duties our submersible pumps are subject to in all locations that we service, we ensure that there is exemplary back up and support to make sure our customers’ sites remain operational; this is because it is necessary to maintain, repair and replace wear parts on pumps when pumping abrasive slurries.
As well as pumps, our companies can deliver tailored pumping solutions with custom made pontoons and slurry handling systems specifically aimed at tailings reclamation applications.
Having been supplying submersible slurry pumps across a wide range of commodities on the African continent since 1996, pump manufacturer Goodwin’s Dirty Water High Head (DWHH) pump made its international debut at Electra Mining Africa this year.
Typical applications for the Goodwin DWHH pump include high wall pumping in openpits, pumping during dam and harbour wall construction, pumping from shaft bottoms, flood level control and pumping over extended distances of up to 4 km.
Featuring the Goodwin twin volute casing technology, the pump is fitted with a forced convection-cooled, oil-filled motor, a non-pressurised mechanical seal, over-sized bearings and an extreme heavy duty cable. It is capable of operating at temperatures of up to 90 ˚C and can run dry for extended periods.
The pump will be available from Goodwin Submersible Pumps Africa, which will officially open in November. The wholly owned subsidiary of Goodwin will operate from a comprehensively equipped facility in Germiston. The custom premises will house a fully equipped workshop, a high-quality pump test bay, a warehouse and a service exchange store, as well as the company’s large rental fleet.
Goodwin Submersible Pumps Africa will offer the full range of high-quality manufactured submersible pumps. These are used not only in the mining industry, but also in general industrial applications such as steel manufacture, iron-ore and lime factories, wastewater and sewage treatment plants, harbours, rivers and dam dredging and cleaning.
All products are backed by highly skilled and knowledgeable technical personnel with an in-depth understanding of pump applications. The range of products includes the well-known ANZE submersible pumps, pontoon-mounted pumping solutions, control panels, hoses, couplings and ancillary equipment.

Goodwin submersible slurry pumps are a great choice for drying, slurry pumping like a water pump, is allows for water volume to flow through. The water circulates the liquids into the liquids pool, and allows liquids to evaporate faster.@@@@@
Goodwin slurry pumps are water efficient, and they don"t require water because all the components of the water are similar to their pumps, they are water-efficient, and has a wide volume of flow. It also has a low water consumption, and long service life. They also have a great water quality, low maintenance, and long-term life.
Hydroman™ 250TJQ Submersible Slurry Pump is a submersible electric sump pumping solution that offers advanced pump features for a variety of solids handling requirements. The TJQ submersible slury pump makes extensive use of Hydroman" finite element stress analysis and state of the art solids modelling to ensure reliable, long-wearing, solids handling capability.
200TJQ Submesible Slurry Pump comes standard with indispensable time-saving features including a moisture detector for early detection of intrusion of fluid into the motor chamber or mechanical seal, and a T-bolt construction that allows for rapid disassembly of the pump end for maintenance access.
The post-Covid economy is proving prosperous for slurry pumping technology company Goodwin Submersible Pumps Africa, who not only managed to stay afloat throughout the global pandemic, but also saw growth.
In many cases, Goodwin has been intimately involved in improving the wear life of its own pumps through proper use, as well as getting a better understanding of customer needs.
“We currently assist in managing many regional operations from a repair and maintenance perspective, but will be reaching out further to all users of Goodwin products, ensuring that they are being looked after, serviced and happy,” Gomes explains.
Goodwin is aiming to continue its growth and expansion in Africa, where its Zambian office, for example, is currently growing in sales activity. The next step is a warehouse and workshop, Gomes says, adding that in similar fashion, Goodwin’s sales activity in Ghana will also soon be expanding into surrounding territories.
The company currently offers sales of new units and spare parts, conducts repairs at its Edenvale-based workshop, in South Africa, and offers service exchange pumps and rental of pumps as well as ancillaries.
The Goodwin range of slurry submersible pumps comprises of three sizes – 100 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm discharge – with a 30 kW, 90 kW motor and 112 kW motor, respectively.
As an addition to the range, the company has the Super Duplex Stainless Steel, or SDSS, acid resistant pump and will be launching its hydraulically driven Slurry Champ pump at Electra Mining Africa 2022.
The Goodwin range of submersible slurry pumps is widely used in the mining industry, covering most commodities such as gold, copper, platinum, coal, diamonds, steel, iron-ore, uranium and the mineral sands industry.
Local municipalities also use the pumps for dam cleaning, thickener cleaning and torpedo tank cleaning (sewerage). Light dredging as well as marine dredging in harbours and dry-docks are other applications.
Goodwin Submersible Pumps Africa’s head office is located in Edenvale, Gauteng, and the operation services the Southern African region together with strategically positioned preferred suppliers.
Mud Pumps come in both electric and gas / diesel engine drive along with air motors. Most of these pumps for mud, trash and sludge or other high solids content liquid dewatering, honey wagon and pumper trucks. Slurry and mud pumps are often diaphragm type pumps but also include centrifugal trash and submersible non-clog styles.
WARNING: Do not use in explosive atmosphere or for pumping volatile flammable liquids. Do not throttle or restrict the discharge. Recommend short lengths of discharge hose since a diaphragm mud pump is a positive displacement type and they are not built with relief valves.
