The Witte Iron Works was a maker of hit and miss engines. The company was started in 1870 by August Witte in Kansas City. His son Ed Witte built the company"s first crude gasoline engine in 1886. In 1894 gas engines would be the company"s primary focus.Headless engine, Witte portables, and a Dragsaw. In 1911 they started manufacturing the Simplicity line of engines. These engines were the first of the Witte models to carry the walking-beam valve mechanism that characterized the entire line until November, 1923. Witte declared that their engines paid for themselves, making them practically free. Their engines could come with saws and mud pumps.

C H & E stands for Chesire, Hase and Edwards, the original founders of the company. I have 2 of the first 5 horse C H & E engines in my collection dating from 1909 according to a senior engineer, ( Tom Frost, retired) at ABS Pumps who bought out C H & E. I actually got copies of the original blueprints for my engines from Tom that were drawn by one of the original owners, don"t remember which one at this moment. Here are some pics.

Drilling Contractor visited the manufacturing facility of White Star Pump Company in Waller, Texas, on 17 February to view a demonstration of the company’s quadraplex mud pump, which was designed to address the challenges of the conventional triplex pump.

“After working on all the different brands of (triplex) pumps, it became evident that they all had the same common issues,” said Bruce Suggs, vice president of marketing and sales for White Star. “(We) tried to build a triplex and ended up with the Quatro.”

Instead of taking an existing triplex pump and trying to make it better, White Star approached the project with a clean-sheet design. The Quatro pump features a width of only 82 in. and easily fits on a standard-width trailer, a potential advantage in areas with limited space, such as on offshore rigs and in shale plays like the Marcellus. With the fluid modules sitting inside the frame, change-out time can be reduced to 23 minutes versus up to 10 hours for conventional triplex pumps. The quadraplex pump also uses a fully assembled crankshaft that requires no castings or welding. Using a crankshaft that is fully assembled and supported by modern bearing placement dramatically reduces crankshaft bending and cracking.

Additionally, the Quatro is equipped with two pulsation dampeners, one for each pair of pistons, unlike the triplex, which carries only one. This allows mud to be dampened before it gets to the strain across, creating a quieter, smoother fluid flow and reducing vibrations.

Strange Plants are quest plant items that can be turned in to the Dye Trader, who rewards the player with 1 out of 33 special dyes, all but two of which are quest-exclusive (the player receives a quantity of 6 of the randomly chosen dye type).

Acquiring a Strange Plant before the Dye Trader has moved in will fulfill one of his spawning requirements, the other being acquiring a dye-crafting item. Keeping both in the player"s inventory and having a suitable vacant house will allow the Dye Trader to spawn during a subsequent morning.

Despite each plant appearing to reach 3×3 tiles, they technically occupy only one tile and appear on the map as such. They can only be harvested by mining their bottom-center tile (the only one that is actually occupied).

Despite Strange Plants looking like they may be biome-specific, they are not restricted by appearance and any variety can be found where they may spawn.

By making a dirt bridge across the sky, it would allow Strange Plants as well as Blinkroot to spawn easier, as using Grass spawns flowers, which lowers the spawn chance of Strange Plants. In addition, swapping this with Asphalt Blocks would allow better arenas for bosses in Hardmode, mainly Empress of Light and Moon Lord.
