The AR-5c is TJR’s pneumatic collet rotary table that employs a pneumatic brake and 5c collet closer system. This unit is an affordable solution for customers who require a 5c collet for their workpiece as an alternative to a 3 or 4 jaw chuck.

The AR-5c collet rotary table can be integrated into a CNC machine control as a full 4th axis or it can be operated as an indexer by utilizing TJR’s SAC (Single Axis Controller).  In addition this series is offered in Right Handed and Left Handed motor mount configurations with a powerful pneumatic braking system.

The AR-5c unit is manufactured with a radial-axial preloaded bearing system for high rigidity that can perform light or heavy cutting. The AR-Series uses a dual lead worm shaft and worm gear to ensure long term indexing accuracy in both directions.

The AR-5C rotary table employs a 5C collet closer system and can be integrated into a CNC machine control as a full 4th axis or operated as an indexer via TJR’s single axis controller (SAC). The table features a pneumatic braking system and is available in right-handed and left-handed motor mount configurations. A radial-axial preloaded bearing system offers rigidity while a dual-lead worm shaft and worm gear provide indexing accuracy in both directions.

Table diameter is 125mm (4.92"), with a thru-hole diameter of 35mm (1.37"). Minimum indexing increment is 0.001° and maximum table rotation speed is 83.3rpm. Peak allowable workpiece load is 100kg (220 lb). The table weighs 34kg (75 lb) and servo motor models are available for Fanuc or Mitsubishi tapers.

I think you"ll be happy with the big BP table. When the time comes and you need to do some rotating work on the vertical mount, pick up one of those Chinese made B&S clone dividing heads. They are pretty tight and work well once cleaned up.

In case you didn"t pick it up, the difference between the two is how they make angles. Rotary tables are cranked to degrees, minutes, and seconds, such that a square is 90-90-90-90 and you"re done. The dividing head is a different beast, it divides a circle into large prime numbers and base multiples. For example, a 7-sided polygon on a rotary table is a clusterfrick of 7x 51.428571428571428571428571428571 degrees, or something approximating 51° 25" 42.85714". Not very useful. On the dividing head, it"s stupid simple- divide one circle by seven and you"re done, with perfect precision.

I expect many of the Chinese spindex will have identical plates, but all I have seen have the same number of holes. The plate is a simple bored hole, with one row of 36 holes, if you have a decent mill, and a trig table, making a custom one would be easy. If I was using one a lot, I"d just match drill, since I get a little brain dead when doing production, and would start stabbing the wrong holes.

It is a bit of a pain to operate with the axis vertical, the collet tightening handle hits my vise, even with the block attached. When it was original length, I had to clamp it to my BIG angle plate (the only one I have)
