If the 36:1 ratio isn"t too coarse for your needs, and you can deal with the T slots being cut right through your degree marks on the edge of the table (lol), then it may be ok. Based on my experience with Chinese and Indian tooling, expect that the lash between the worm and worm wheel will vary as the table turns, so you have to find a balance between the tight spots and loose spots.

I considered this same table for some time, but it wouldn"t do for the type of work required. I looked to the Sherline table instead, which is supposed to be really good, and eventually decided to build my own, based on a scaled down Troyke design. It"s going to take a long time, but it"ll be nicer than any miniature rotary table I could buy even if I wanted to spend the money. Plus, it"ll keep me off the streets and out of trouble.

Our Tables are made of high density Meehanite and use "HEIDENHAIN" electronic equipment to inspect angle to assure the excellent quality and durableness.

Worm is hardened and ground. The ratio is 90:1. The work table is graduateda full 360° so that one turn of the handle moves the table through 4°. Micro collar is graduated in steps of 1"min. And vernier scale makes settings down to 10 seconds possible.

The way that I was taught is that you have to make up a test bar. Take a piece of 12" by 1" roundbar, drill two centre holes in it"s ends, on your lathe and take a parallel cut between centres. Once you have corrected the error of your lathe and both ends of the test bar measure the same diameter, you can then use the test bar in your milling machine as well, to set the tailstock of the dividing head as well as the alignment of the bar to the table axis.
