magic chef oven safety valve factory
First I removed the oven door by pulling straight up off of the hinges in the open postion. Next remove oven racks, then use 1/4 nutdriver to remove back screws on inside oven bottom plate. Next remove gold nut on silver tube @ pilot connection, then remove 1/4 nuts that hold pilot assembly. Next open top of stove and remove small gold nut "with the thin wire from pilot"attached to the back left of oven control knob. Snake that nut and wire from the top of the stove down to the oven and removethe whole pilot assembly. To install carefully unroll the new pilot assembly starting from the oven "there are two round holes you need to snake the tube into"and up behind the back & into the stove top. Make your connection@ the oven assembly. Next attach the assembly with the 1/4 screws that you removed, then make your connection"gold screw silver tube" now push in your oven control knob to alllow gas to flow to the pilot tube and check for leaks with a water @ soap solution. No bubbles no leaks. Light your pilot . . . . You must hold in the oven knob. Put back in oven plate,,,, 1/4 screws,,,,racks close the stove top ,put door back on hinges and your done. . . . . Hope I helped,. . Pete
This gas oven safety valve is used to make sure that no gas is released until the igniter is ready to ignite. This part is for both the bake and broil igniter in your appliance.
The oven had been working intermittently for a while and after repeated threats of starvation from my spouse I finally took a look even though it was summer and the grill was working fine. The Igniter would glow red when the oven was turned on but the gas would not flow to it no matter what the temperature setting. I searched online and found this site that explained it was possible for the igniter to glow but if it was not drawing the correct amperage (because its resistance was too high) then the main brain would not allow the gas valve to open. So I took a look at the broiler and it had the same igniter. I measure the resistance of both of them and the oven igniters resistance was higher (don"t rememeber the reading) then I moved the Igniter from the broiler to the oven and the oven worked from there it was just a matter of ordering the part. End of story except for I am still doing all the cooking on the barbecue outside.
Oven Igniter Kit (Flat Style) for Magic Chef 9112VUV Oven. Genuine Product, Whirlpool manufactured the original product for your Magic Chef 9112VUV. Part number 12400035 has been substituted to part number 7432P067-60.
This is the oven igniter kit. It can replace igniters for either bake or broil burners. This igniter replaces most flat oven igniters. Does not replace round igniters or igniters with blue ceramic. This replaces shorter and longer igniters in many instances. Amperage range is between 3.3 - 3.6. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve.
