The T-ferrule correspond to the European standard (FSET) for turnback ferrule or ferrule secured steel wire rope eye termination. The ferrule is according to EN 13411-3 standard and are produced from seamfree extrusions which are extruded seamless over mandrel and the aluminium alloy is AW-5051A according to EN 573-3.

The T aluminium turnback ferrules are the most commonly used ferrules in the market, they have a vast variety of applications especially in the lifting gear industry. The T ferrule are thoroughly specified and very well defined for many different steel wire rope applications. Four different cases are tested and verified according to the standard, EN 13411-3. The ferrules can be used for fibre core, single layer wire ropes, steel core single layer wire ropes, rotation resistant wire ropes and some spiral strand ropes.

This tool works very well and is easy to operate. I was careful to follow the directions exactly and not overcrimp. It is a little difficult to see into the working area to be sure that crimps are rotated from each other correctly and not all lined up in the same orientation. A bright light helped. It is also tricky to position the stops in the tool because they are short and have just enough length to hold the required three crimps. I have had no failures yet.

Oval Stainless Steel Swage Sleeves connect Stainless Steel Wire Rope. A Swage Sleeve may be called a crimp, clamp, ferrule, or tube. These Swage Sleeves are oval in shape. Additionally, Oval Swages are “machine swages”. Duplex Swages are “manual swages”. Machine Swages require hydraulic swaging in diameters of 2.0mm or greater. Additionally, a Swage Sleeve fits precisely. Each size covers a limited number of wire diameters. Other fittings – normally of a thimble – are used in concert with Swage Sleeves. Swage Stoppers do not require thimbles as they don’t form loops.

Usage: The Oval Stainless Steel Swage Sleeves anchor 2 strands of wire.  The AISI G304 alloy is compatible with G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope. AISI G304 has increased malleability for easy swaging. To clarify, swaging is the process of uniformly crushing a fitting from a starting diameter to a finished diameter. Therefore, the chosen swaging tool must achieve a cold pressure weld. Logically, the requisite pressure and tool size varies with the size of the wire and the fitting. Consequently, we recommend Swaging Stainless Steel fittings onto wire larger than11.5mm with an adequate hydraulic swaging tool.
