Like the weapon system, switching between radio stations is now done by bringing up a radio station wheel to jump to any station, or turn off the radio. In the PlayStation 4 version, the player can utilise the touch pad to change stations by swiping up or down. When using the radio station wheel in GTA V, or in Director Mode, the game will revert to slow motion while changing stations.

Radio interference is heard when listening to a specific station and trying to leave the zone where that signal is available. Blaine County Radio can only be selected in Blaine County and WCTR in Los Santos County. If the player leaves the county while listening to the respective station they will lose the signal and the radio will automatically switch to the next station on the radio wheel. Sometimes, if the player passes under any large structure in the game, such as a tunnel or a bridge, electromagnetic interference can be heard. The radio station wheel is not available in North Yankton.

The Rebel Radio Building can be found in the Grand Senora Desert next to a broadcast tower and has external speakers playing music from the station. However, it does not match what is playing on that station at the time.

There are 22 in-game radio stations, with 21 active stations in each county, 2 GTA Online radio stations ported to GTA V, and 1 custom station modified by the player. Please select a radio station to jump to its section.

The enhanced version of the game added 162 new songs (404 songs in total) spread across all radio stations, with the exception of East Los FM and Soulwax FM, which feature no new songs, and WCTR and Blaine County Radio, which are talk stations.

Danny Brown and Skepta and plays afro-fusion, cloud rap, dancehall, electro, grime, jungle, rap, UK garage, wonky, and drum & bass. As of the Los Santos Drug Wars update, the radio only plays the Danny Brown playlist.

Jezz Torrent and Crow - "This Is A Power Ballad" (performed by William Angio) - Song made for the game, can be heard during the Fame or Shame TV programme.

Arena War soundtrack created by the band HEALTH has two versions in the game files - score version that is featured in the Arena War and unused singles versions that were added with The Diamond Casino & Resort update. Those versions were meant to be used for the Rockstar EditorLos Santos Tuners update:

Morcheeba - "Tape Loop" (1996) - Following the Heists Update, the song was changed to the "Shortcheeba Mix" version on the console versions of the game. Following The Diamond Casino & Resort update (Title Update 1.48), the PC version was also changed to the "Shortcheeba Mix". The original version can still be heard in The Diamond Casino & Resort.

Alain Goraguer - "Méditation Des Enfants" (1973) - Plays during the transition from "You Never Come Closer" to "Meditation Medication" on FlyLo FM"s enhanced mix.

Alain Goraguer - "Ten Et Tiwa Dorment" (1973) - Plays during the transition from "Meditation Medication" to "What We Want" on FlyLo FM"s enhanced mix, albeit reversed.

A rare glitch occurs when switching radio stations; switching to the one the player wants to listen to, a song that should be playing on another radio station may take over the radio station the player just switched to. The player must wait until the song is over, and the glitch should be gone.

This glitch can also persist across multiple stations when it occurs. (i.e. Los Santos Rock Radio has been seen to play songs from Radio Los Santos and Channel X in the same session).
