(COMAC); and China Aviation Industry Systems Company (AVIC Systems) held a contract-signing ceremony today naming Parker the fuel, inerting, and hydraulic systems provider for the new COMAC C919 large aircraft, and to announce a joint venture between Parker and AVIC Systems.
"Parker is honored to have been chosen to supply the fuel, inerting, and hydraulic systems on the C919," said Parker Aerospace Vice President of Asia Pacific Pui Ho. "We are committed to China and to supporting its rapidly expanding aerospace industry."
Fuel and inerting systems. The Parker Aerospace Fluid Systems and Electronic Systems Divisions will be responsible for the complete fuel and inerting systems for the aircraft. The fuel system equipment will handle multiple functions for the aircraft"s fuel system and includes engine feed, auxiliary power unit feed, refuel and defuel, venting, scavenge, fuel quantity gauging, and integrated modular avionics fuel gauging and management software. The inerting system includes the conditioned air supply and electronic control, as well as nitrogen-enriched air generation and distribution, reducing the flammability of fuel vapors in the aircraft"s fuel tanks and increasing aircraft safety.
Hydraulic system. Parker Aerospace"s Hydraulic Systems Division will be responsible for the complete C919 hydraulic system, including engine-driven pumps, variable frequency motor pumps, power transfer unit, reservoirs, filter assemblies, shutoff valves, quick disconnects, and other equipment. The hydraulic system contract also features a hydraulic control and monitoring software package for the C919 integrated modular avionics controller. The hydraulic system provides the functions necessary to power and control the aircraft"s flight control system, landing gear and steering systems, and thrust-reversers.
Joint venture.Parker Aerospace and AVIC Systems have signed an agreement to form a joint venture for the development and support of the C919 large aircraft program. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
The new venture is being formed to provide local, in-country support of the joint development of Parker"s hydraulic and fuel systems for the C919. A significant portion of the systems" component design, test, and manufacture will take place at the new facility, as well as systems integration and test functions.

The Chomerics Division of Parker Hannifin Corp. (Parker Hannifin) announced its new THERM-A-GAP GEL 20, a one-component thermal interface material with 2.4 W/m-K thermal conductivity ideal for automotive industry applications. The material’s heavy paste-like consistency enables controlled dispensing, applied in variable thicknesses up to 4mm, to suit the needs of automotive applications that include: electronic control units (ECUs); converters, inverters and on-board chargers; control modules for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); and vehicle infotainment. The product is also suitable for many cross-industry applications, including power supplies and semiconductors, memory and power modules, microprocessors and graphics processors, flat panel displays and consumer electronics. For direct binding of battery cells to cooling plates, enabling higher pack energy densities and reduced manufacturing costs, Parker offers the required adhesive product solutions. An extensive product portfolio for e-axles in fully electric vehicles encompasses tailored materials and system-integrated sealing solutions for housings and cooling units. For all heat transfer applications between electronic components and heat sinks Parker offers thermal pad and gap filler solutions ensuring complete conformability (with low clamping forces) and lowest outgassing and providing an effective thermal interface wherever surface irregularities, air gaps, or rough textures are prevalent. Effective March 31, 2022, it has closed its office and warehouse facility in Moscow and no longer does business in this country. Parker Hannifin Corp. announced that its Engine Mobile Original Equipment Division is expanding its existing facility in Holly Springs, Mississippi to include a product development center. The project is expected to create 25 new product development jobs. The Holly Springs location manufactures all first-fit OEM assemblies for fuel, air and crankcase ventilation filtration products. For the expansion, the division will construct an addition onto its current facility to accommodate additional product development team members, and expects to complete the expansion by mid-2022. Racor, a brand of Parker Hannifin"s Engine and Mobile Filtration Division, announced that it is launching an innovative new coalescing filtration media that represents a technological step change in diesel fuel filtration. Unlike conventional barrier water separators commonly found on mobile equipment, which separate water from fuel with a single hydrophobic barrier filter element, the new Aquabloc3D elements use three distinct stages to ensure only clean fuel passes up to the engine. Aquabloc3D coalescing filtration systems offer longer service life and considerably improved water separation in bio-diesel fuels. Aquabloc3D has been designed as an upgrade and replacement for existing water separator spin-on filters used in Parker"s industry-leading products found on a wide range of trucks, buses, agricultural and construction machinery. Parker Hannifin announced that its Chelsea Products Division introduced the QT Gear, a patent pending sound dampening technology which can be applied to Parker Power Take-Offs (PTOs) that are engine driven by a live PTO drive gear in the transmission. The new gear assembly design smooths out the torsional vibrations found in diesel engine applications, with no change to the durability or torque capacity of the PTO. Parker Hannifin Corp. and Clarcor Inc. announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Parker will acquire Clarcor for approximately USD 4.3 billion in cash, including the assumption of net debt. Clarcor, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, is a diversified marketer and manufacturer of mobile, industrial and environmental filtration products with annual sales of approximately USD 1.4 billion and 6,000 employees worldwide. Clarcor adds a broad array of industrial air and liquid filtration products and technologies to Parker’s filtration portfolio. Parker plans to finance the transaction using cash and new debt. Parker Hannifin Corporation announced that it has acquired Jaeger Automobil-Technik GmbH and Jaeger Automotive Polska Sp. z.o.o. from Arnold Jaeger Holding GmbH, headquartered in Hannover, Germany. The Jaeger Group is a pioneer in rubber to plastic direct bonded sealing systems for automotive markets and a leading developer of two-component (2K) direct injection molding technology. The acquired businesses combined have annual sales of approximately USD 45 million and nearly 250 employees. Their products are used to seal and protect key components of automotive systems. Parker Hannifin announced on June 30 that it has expanded operations at its location in Holly Springs, Mississippi with a USD 685,000 corporate investment. Parker Hannifin"s expansion is the result of production moving to the Holly Springs facility from South Carolina. Additional hiring will bring employment at the facility to 124. Parker Hannifin Corporation has announced that its RunWise-equipped refuse vehicles have recorded more than four million miles on the road. Parker"s RunWise Advanced Series Hybrid Drive System captures more than 71 percent of a vehicle"s otherwise lost braking energy and uses stored energy to save up to 4,300 gallons of fuel per year, per truck. Parker Hannifin Corporation announced that its RunWise Hydraulic Hybrid Drive Transmission fulfills proposed fuel-economy standards, unveiled in mid-June by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The new standards call for large diesel-powered vehicles such as refuse trucks manufactured from 2021-2027 to use 16-to-24 percent less fuel depending on their size by 2027. There are more than 200 refuse haulers equipped with the RunWise hydraulic transmission that have on average reduced fuel consumption by 43% compared to conventional diesel fuel refuse haulers. The reduction is nearly double the proposed requirements from the EPA. Additionally, the California Air Resources Board has also certified the RunWise transmission, paired with Cummins Engine Co."s 2015 model-year engine, as a validated technology to help improve fuel economy and efficiency in California refuse fleets by up to 50 percent. Parker Hannifin Corporation"s Tube Fittings Division recently expanded its Seal-Lok O-ring face seal tube fitting line. Seal-Lok for compressed natural gas (CNG) provides reliable fuel conveyance in natural gas applications using an elastomeric seal compound. The compound improves ozone resistance and supports wider temperature range requirements. It is also fully certified – NGV 3.1, ECER110, and ISO 15500 for on-vehicle CNG applications. Included in the launch are these core products: CLEANDiesel Integrated Particulate Monitor (IPM) laser-based particle detector modules, CLEANDiesel Filtration Skid (DFS) fuel contaminant control systems, and CLEANDiesel FBO versatile housings. With an investment of 100 crores rupees, approximately 18.7 million USD, the new facility is built on a 10 acre plot in Mahindra World City. The company has built the first phase of the project of 166,000 square feet and it will expand further by 100,000 square feet in the second phase. The new facility will manufacture broad range of products and systems for segments such as automotive, off-highway mobile, telecom, oil and gas, mining, and others. The Chennai facility targets the employment of 300 people in the next 2 to 3 years. With this facility and acquisitions, Parker Hannifin India plans to double their revenues within the next 5 years. The business is part of the Climate and Industrial Controls segment and has annual sales of approximately 140 million USD and 1,000 employees. ContiTech announced the acquisition of the automotive air conditioning business of the Collierville, Tennessee, U.S.-based Mobile Climate Systems division of Parker Hannifin Corporation. This acquisition includes plants in Mexico (Monterrey and Montemorelos), the Czech Republic (Chomutov), South Korea (Chonan) and China (Wuxi, Jiangsu Province). ContiTech will take on approximately 1,000 employees in total from this acquisition. Parker"s automotive air conditioning business manufactures components such as hose and tube assemblies, accumulators, receiver dryers and oil coolant assemblies for the light vehicle automotive industry. The business is part of the Climate and Industrial Controls segment with annual sales of approximately 140 million USD. The mobile and hose portions of the Mobile Climate Systems Division are not part of the transaction. The acquired business will be integrated into ContiTech"s Fluid Technology Business Unit. Parker Hannifin Corporation announced that it has completed its tender offer to purchase the outstanding shares not owned by Parker in TAIYO, LTD., a majority owned subsidiary of Parker, which is headquartered in Osaka, Japan. The tender offer, which was formally made by Parker Hannifin Japan Holdings GK, resulted in ownership by Parker of 97.82% of the outstanding shares of TAIYO. The total consideration paid by Parker for the tendered shares was 5.5 billion yen (approximately 70 million USD). Parker has been the majority shareholder in TAIYO since June 2006 and owned 56.49 percent of the outstanding shares in TAIYO prior to the tender offer. TAIYO has annual sales of approximately 17.3 billion yen (approximately 215 million USD) and develops and manufactures a broad range of motion and control products. Parker Hannifin Corporation has received acknowledgement from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that Parker"s RunWise(R) hydraulic hybrid system has been placed on the National Clean Diesel Campaign"s Emerging Technologies List. The hybrid system is capable of reducing fuel use and emissions by 50 percent. EPA"s Emerging Technologies Program provides an opportunity to foster the development of technologies to reduce emissions from the fleet of heavy-duty diesel engines. Parker Hannifin Corporation has developed several hydraulic hybrid technologies that improve the performance of refuse and delivery vehicles to levels that exceed proposed new U.S. fuel efficiency and emissions standards. Parker"s RunWise(R) series hydraulic hybrid technology is capable of reducing fuel use and emissions by as much as 50 percent. Developed with the support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the technology is already in use on refuse vehicles in three South Florida communities. United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx have become the first companies to order a variation on the technology for use on delivery vehicles scheduled to be on the road in 2011. The company is already developing further advancements in the technology for use on a bus platform that is targeting a 45 percent reduction in fuel use over average diesel powertrains and which would be more than double the fuel reduction achieved with hybrid electric systems. Chomerics Asia Pacific division of Parker Hannifin Corporation announced the opening of a new facility in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, India. Located adjacent to the 260 acre Special Economic Zone, the facility will enable Chomerics to better serve the rapidly growing Indian market. With nearly 1700 sq meters of manufacturing and office space, the plant will produce electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielded products to support local customers. Parker Hannifin Corporation announced the acquisition of the assets of Silver Cloud Manufacturing, a maker of electromagnetic and radio frequency interference shielding products and display filters for a variety of electronics applications. Silver Cloud, a Millville, NJ unit of Xymox Technologies Inc., employs 54 people and reached $8.3 million in revenues for the year ended June 30, 2007. Silver Cloud will operate as part of Parker"s sealing and shielding business within the company"s Industrial North America segment. Silver Cloud"s unique lamination technology and anti-reflective chemistry knowledge are used to create products that are used in control panels, monitors, handhelds, voting booths, in-flight entertainment screens and medical devices. Mitos manufactures fluid-handling products and systems designed specifically to meet the high purity requirements of the biotech industry, including tubing and hose, valves, pumps and molded components. Mitos had revenues of $5.5 million in 2006 and employs approximately 40 people at its headquarters in Phoenixville, PA. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
