Hydraulic pumps convert mechanical energy into fluid power energy. All hydraulic pumps are positive displacement which means the outlet flow is sealed from the inlet flow. A small amount of fluid is designed to leak internally to lubricate and cool the internal components of the pump. The only function of the pump is to produce flow in a system. Brand new P.T.O gearbox and pump assemblies are ideal for adding power to tractors and landscape equipment not already equipped with hydraulic circuits. Used to power hydraulic Auger, front-end loaders, mowers, rotary sweepers etc.
The gearboxes are used mainly for connecting hydraulic pumps to the power take-offs of agricultural tractors. PTO output, standardised at either 540 or 1,000 rpm, is, in this way, increased to optimum operating speeds for the hydraulic pumps. At 540 Rpm, the output speed is 1620 RPM

See page P6 for the PTO pump torque arm kit. • FILTRATION The pump must be used in a clean system with clean oil. The fluid cleanliness should meet the ISO 4406 17/14 level. As a minimum, 10 micron filtration is recommended. • HYDRAULIC FLUID A good quality mineral base hydraulic fluid with a viscosity in the 70-250 SUS range at operating temperature is recommended. • OPERATING TEMPERATURE Oil operating temperature should not exceed 180°F. If it does, the reservoir may be too small or a heat exchanger may be needed. • SHAFT SPEEDS Prince PTO pumps are designed to operate at up to 110% of standard PTO shaft speeds. Standard speeds are 540 rpm for the 6 tooth shaft and 1000 rpm for the 21 tooth shaft. CATP 3-01-20-01 • CLOSE RUNNING CLEARANCE FOR HIGH FLOW RATE Another feature that contributes to the excellent and long-lived efficiency of the PTO-Series pump is the minimum clearance between the gears and the center housing. Each pump is assembled with zero clearance between the housing and the tips of the gear teeth, then test run until the teeth establish a proper wear path in the housing. The result is a much tighter clearance than found in traditional pumps. • PRESSURE RATING Pumps are designed for 2250 PSI max. relief valve setting. A relief valve, external to the pump, must be provided in the system. • PORTS All pumps are provided with an inlet port adapter (SAE O-ring boss to hose barb) and outlet port adapter (SAE O-ring boss to female pipe thread) sized appropriately for the ports and required line sizes. A steel plug is provided for the second outlet port. • RESERVOIR As a guideline, a reservoir size in gallons should equal the pump output in gallons per minute. A larger reservoir and/or an oil cooler may be needed for high duty cycle applications. Bezares is the third-largest aftermarket manufacturer of PTOs globally. The company specializes in transmission PTOs and provides them to most commercial vehicle brands.
A belt drive PTO is for situations when a vehicle doesn’t have SAE or DIN-type attaching point for PTO. The power is taken from the crankshaft with the belt. The belt drive PTO can be installed into any vehicle and used while driving. Vans and pick-ups are standard vehicles for the belt drive PTO.
An engine PTO is used when the engine has SAE or DIN-type attaching point for the PTO. The engine PTO can be used while driving, and it can handle a lot of power. Most of the modern trucks have SAE or DIN-type attaching points for PTO. For example, refrigerated transports are one possible application for the engine PTO.
A transmission PTO can be installed if the transmission has SAE or DIN-type attaching point. The transmission PTO can be used while the vehicle is stationary. Applications like pipe cleaning units can be powered this way.
Split shaft PTO is implemented to the Cardan shaft, and it can be used while the vehicle is stationary. When the splitter is activated, the power is taken from the Cardan shaft to the piece of hydraulic equipment e.g. power washer.
A crankshaft coupling PTO can be used without SAE or DIN-type attaching point. This type of PTO can also be used while driving. It takes power straight from the crankshaft without a belt or so.

The PF Series pumps are the most common pump used with Muncie Power PTOs used on Ford trucks. These pumps provide the ultimate performance in a small packaging and are ideal for applications requiring low flow. Our PF Series pumps are available in 11 different models, ranging in flow from 1–8.7 GPM at 1000 RPM. Most common applications for the PF4 Series include aerial utility trucks, tree chippers, small refuse trucks, lift gates, roll-offs, and snow plows. The PF4 Series pump is compatible with all our PTOs for Ford and can be used on both 4x4 and 4x2, but pump size may be limited on a gas 4x4 application.
The PH Series gear pump includes modifications to the pump rear cover to allow optimum compatibility with our F20 and FR6Q series PTOs. Enhanced design features—including elimination of side ports and the removal of nearly ½" of material from the suction side of the housing—provide increased clearance of the floorboard. The PH Series pump is available in six different models, ranging in flow from 3–11 GPM at 1000 RPM. The PH Series pumps are only available to be used on 4x2 chassis and are commonly used on wreckers, bucket trucks, cranes, snow plows, and car carriers.
On Ford transmissions, the PK Series gear pump is compatible with all PTOs for Ford, but the standard gear housing will be replaced with the S Series gear housing for use on F20 and FR6Q series PTOs. Our PK Series is available with three models at 6, 13, and 17 GPM at 1000 RPM. The PK Series pumps are only applicable to 4x2 chassis only and are often used on cranes, service trucks, cable lifts, wreckers, car carriers, snow plows, and roll-offs.
The Optimum W Series pump is available for use only with our FR6Q Series PTO on F-650 and F-750 trucks. This robust design allows higher operating pressures than typical pumps and a modified housing allows it to fit with these Ford trucks. Optimum W Series’ robust design allows higher operating pressures than typical gear pump applications. The Optimum W Series is available in eight models, ranging from 6–21 GPM at 1000 RPM. This pump is often used on material handling, mining, construction, and agriculture applications requiring higher pressures.
The PT2-025 bent axis piston pump is a high efficiency pump designed for applications requiring higher pressures and low flow rates. This pump requires the “UU” output code and is only applicable with the F20 Series PTO in one model: the 6.75 GPM at 1000 RPM. The PT2-025 Series is often used on cranes, high pressure hoists, and grapple trucks.
