Tiger Eye Advanced Monitoring System keeps a constant, real-time "eye" on important system functions on your Scag Cheetah. Depending on engine selection, a wide variety of systems are monitored in real-time, giving you valuable information in just a glance, right from the operator"s seat. Backlit panel makes viewing easy in all conditions.
The Ogura GT5 PTO Clutch Brake delivers up to 350 ft. lbs. of starting and stopping torque. Adjustable air gap ensures long component life and reduced maintenance costs. Other brands of electric clutch do not have adjustable air-gaps and once they are out of adjustment, they must be replaced. GT3.5 clutch with 250 ft. lbs. of torque is used on the 27HP Kawasaki FX powered 61" Cheetah"s.
Heavy-duty blade drive spindles provide reliable performance season after season. The Scag spindle easily handles the high horsepower and torque requirements of this powerful mower. Three year limited warranty.
"Split-Steel" pulleys are used on load carrying areas like the cutter deck spindles and pump drive systems. Split steel pulleys are stronger than cast iron or stamped pulley designs. Our pulleys are strong for long life and lightweight for reduced inertia and decreased wear on the cutter deck drive system, including the PTO clutch.
No plastic pulleys - Some [other brands] actually use plastic pulleys on their mowers. Not Scag. All Scag pulleys are made from metal. Plastic is for toys.
High quality electrical components such as switches, wiring and harness looms are used throughout the Scag mower line for trouble-free service. In-line sealed fuses are easily accessible should they need to be replaced.
There are many time saving, money making accessories for the Cheetah like the Tiger Striper lawn striping kit, spindle driven grass catchers, halogen light kits and more.
While the price you pay will depend on the dealership, the MSRPs for Scag mowers range between around $4,800 to nearly $21,000. You may find other commercial mowers that cost a little more or a little less, but the Scag price range is a fair representation of industry standards.
Every mower has relative advantages and disadvantages. The cost of buying the ideal mower for you depends upon what type of mower best fits your needs. While you may not know what kind of mower is perfect for your situation, looking at Scag"s lineup provides several fantastic options.
Zero-turn riding mowers have numerous advantages that make them the go-to mower for larger properties. Scag offers six different zero-turn mowers that are suited to different lot sizes and terrains, from budget options ideal for homeowners to beasts that can take on the biggest fields. Despite their size, zero-turn mowers are surprisingly agile and can turn on even less than a dime, letting their operators create the long, luxurious stripes of a well-manicured lawn. Scag mowers are built with an emphasis on comfort and durability, meaning operators and their machines can last for the long haul.
The Turf Tiger II is the priciest Scag mower but delivers fearsome performance worthy of its name. It can achieve ground speeds of up to 12 mph moving forward and 5 mph in reverse. The Turf Tiger includes a driveshaft-powered Velocity Plus™ 52", 61", or 72" cutter deck and a center-mounted gasoline, diesel, or propane fuel tank for improved hillside stability. This mower offers precision cuts across a wide range of terrain but may be overpowered for smaller, flatter properties or light maintenance needs.
The Cheetah II is the fastest mower that Scag offers and can achieve ground speeds of up to 16 mph forward and 8 mph in reverse. The mower comes with either a 31/38 HP Kawasaki FX921V/FX1000 engine or a 37 HP Briggs Vanguard™ BIG BLOCK™ EFI engine. There’s also a straight belt driven cutter deck and a 15-gallon (61"/72") gas tank mounted low on the mower to improve stability. This mower is ideal for owners who need to cover a lot of ground daily but isn’t ideally suited for hilly terrain.
The Patriot is Scag’s mid-range riding mower in terms of price and performance. It can achieve ground speeds of up to 10 mph moving forward and 5 mph in reverse. It has a straight belt-driven Hero™ Cutter Deck and a 6.5-gallon gas tank mounted above its wheels. Buyers in the market for a good all-around mower for general landscaping may want to look into one of these, but it doesn"t have the specialized capabilities of other Scag models.
The Freedom Z is Scag’s tough and dependable entry-level commercial mower, ideal for homeowners who want quality, professional cuts. The mower comes with a 48” or 52” Hero™ Cutter Deck and a 6.5 gallon fuel tank with a digital hour meter to help riders track usage. Riders can achieve a top forward speed of 8 mph forward and 5 mph in reverse. The Freedom Z is also designed for easy maintenance, including sealed aluminum spindles with ball bearings and simplified grease points.
The Liberty Z is the most affordable line of Scag lawn mowers and can achieve ground speeds of up to 7 mph moving forward and 5 mph in reverse. They have a straight belt driven cutter deck and a 3.5-gallon (36" models) to 5.5-gallon gas tank. This mower is ideal for residential projects that demand the performance of a commercial lawn mower.
Stand-on mowers offer the rider a commanding line of sight and lower center of gravity, making the machine perfect for tight spots and hilly terrain. They also take up less space than riding mowers, making them ideal for smaller lawns, especially in urban areas. Scag offers one type of stand-on mower: the V-Ride II.
The V-Ride features big mower features in an ultra-compact package, delivering high productivity, agility, and comfort in one machine. Riders can top out at 10.5 mph moving forward and 5 mph in reverse. The mower includes an Advantage (32" and 36") or Velocity Plus™ (48", 52", and 61") cutting deck with cast iron cutter blades. With heavy-duty dual hydraulic pumps, wide traction tires, driver suspension, and a steel mainframe, the V-Ride can take on any job without tiring the driver.
There are three types of walk-behind Scag mowers: the SWZ Hydro-Drive, the SW Belt-Drive, and the SWZT Hydro-Drive. They deliver Scag’s performance and reliability in a smaller (and more affordable) package than its riding mowers. Walk-behind mowers are ideal for hilly terrain and smaller jobs, especially those that would take less than 40 minutes. Their low center of gravity makes them easy to operate on slopes and around obstacles.
Scag’s SWZ Hydro-Drive offers zero-turn performance in a walk-behind mower. The mower includes a 36” Advantage Cutter Deck or a 48”/52”/61” Velocity Plus™ Cutter Deck, with heavy-duty steel construction and cast iron spindles. The SWZ can reach top mowing speeds of up to 7.4 mph forward and 3 mph in reverse and includes a 5.5 gallon fuel tank. With 18” rear drive tires and 9” caster tires and a cutting height of 1.75" to 4.5" that can be adjusted in .25" increments, the SWZ is ready for all-day mowing on any lawn.
Scag’s SW Belt-Drive is a powerful and reliable walk-behind mower ideal for your next residential or commercial project. The mower comes equipped with a powerful 14/15 hp Kawasaki® 481FS/541FS engine that helps the mower reach a top speed of 6 mph forward and 2 mph in reverse. The SW-Belt Drive also includes an Advantage Cutter Deck (32”/36”) or a Velocity Plus™ Cutter Deck (48”/52”). Spring-loaded pistol grips and a durable, low-maintenance construction make all-day mowing easy.
The SWZT Hydro-Drive offers smooth handling and performance and includes some of the most advanced features on any Scag walk-behind mower. It features a powerful Kawasaki® motor, cast iron wheel rotors, and dual hydraulic trans axles, all of which help the mower achieve top speeds of 7 mph forward and 3 mph in reverse. It also includes a heavy-duty steel plate Hero™ Cutter Deck adjustable from 1.5” to 4.5” in .25” increments. With a 5.5 gallon fuel tank and ergonomic controls, it’s easy to keep working until the job is finished.
Your needs largely determine which of the many Scag mowers is best for your money. Those looking for a mower for their home or for light landscaping usage will have different priorities than someone who needs one for a ranch or golf course. If you are looking for a mower to tend to your home"s lawn, then the Scag Liberty Z is the obvious choice. If you run a small landscaping company, then the Scag Patriot will probably satisfy your needs at a price that is hard to beat.
If you"re in the market for a top of the line, commercial mower, then deciding between the Cheetah and Turf Tiger II depends upon what you"re planning to mow. If you want a speed-demon mower that can work its way through flat land quickly, then the Cheetah is well-suited for you. If you want an incredibly durable and versatile mower capable of handling tough sloping grades with ease, then the Turf Tiger is the way to go.
