white planter pto hydraulic pump factory

I have used a white planter and run the blower directly from my JD 7410 tractor hydraulics for several years. I just bought a different white planter and am now thinking about using the pto pump with a different tractor. I have never used the pto to run the pump and had a few questions/concerns. Do I need to run my tractor in a higher gear to keep the rpms low out of respect for the little blower pressure needed for the planter? Could I run in any gear I want and any extra presure from the higher rpms is handled by the regulator on the blower? I am thinking about using the JD 4450 on the 12 row planter. I realize the pump has been used by white planter farmers for many years so my concerns are probably out of proportion to the "problem". Thanks for your input.
